Anticipation

How can I describe my emotions right now? We are about to meet our daughter. What will she be like? Will she have lots of dark hair or be practically bald? Will she be long & skinny like Sam? Will she be shy or chatty like her brother? It feels like I've been waiting a lifetime to meet her. I've often wondered how I could love her like I do Sam. I do not ask myself that question anymore - I'm there...

Beautiful artwork from my lovely sister-in-law, Esther.
For all her messes...
We're all set!
So in love with her already.

Will she look like me?
I cannot wait for moments like these...

And this guy?
He's so ready.

A beautiful moving post, dear Jen. It won't be much longer now. Soon she will be warm and snug in your loving arms.

When I was 19 I met my great grandmother for the first time since I was a baby. She was so frail and could hardly stand. She hugged me from her bed so much tighter then I would have ever imagined possible. She had tears on her cheeks and she said over and over again, "All of my life I have loved you. All of my life I have loved you.". It was the most powerful thing anyone has ever said to me and it has become even more powerful to me now as a mom and I truly understanding what if means to have loved our children for all of our lives. Even before they are here with us.

I can't wait to meet your sweet little girl! Not long now!

I remember vividly how it feels to hold precious daughters. The anticipation of holding you, my first grand daughter, Jennifer, lasted two weeks and when I finally did the loving feeling that wrapped around me has never been exceeded. You were "Grandma's little darling" and you reacted to those words I had said to you for months as we patiently waited for your arrival. Sam is "my little Sweet Pea" and the love still grows. I have plenty left to share. Waiting with excitement and love for all.

Love this beautiful post, Jen. We are so excited that your baby daughter and our next great-granddaughter will arrive very soon now. I'm sure she will be all that you have ever dreamed of and much, much more. If your little girl is like our three little girls were, she will capture her daddy's heart at first sight and wrap him around her little finger!

Her room is simply adorable . . . so cozy and warm and sweet for a little baby girl! We can't wait to meet her!

I am absolutely buzzing with anticipation now. I cannot imagine how you and Mike must both feel. I am very happy for you (especially since she seems to be waiting until you finish your 'to-do' list before arriving into this world).

Your post expresses so well the best of the human condition, our love for each other, and our ability to love without limit. We are looking forward to the birth and appreciating that we have such a loving family.
