Today was so glorious here in Seattle. I'm sure it was in Vancouver too. Sam and I went out and spent some time in our yard with the dogs. I remember this time last year and Sam was just sitting and drooling. Now he RUNS around the yard pointing at everything - wanting it all to be identified by me. He stares up at the huge blue sky and points at every single bird. He is so intrigued by every leaf. He stops dead in his tracks if he comes across a pine cone. All these simple things are so big to him and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to "slow down" and notice the beauty that surrounds us here everyday. Rain or shine!

Sam is fortunate to have the chance to spend these precious moments with you. You will soon notice how quickly time passes and these memories are what you and Mike will most treasure.
The simplest moments can sometimes be the most significant when we remember them.
Right now I am letting my mind go back in time and I am remembering you and I at Denman on the beach overturning rocks to watch the crabs scatter. It was a beautiful day in 1986.
